Survived Gustav

Here Vidalia Louisiana we had a lot of wind and rain from Hurricane Gustav. We were without power for 3 1/2 days. We finally got it back and we are so happy. My 3 year old missed her daily coco muk and cheese. The stores finally restocked there cold shelves and was able to get some milk and cheese.

We are now watching Hurricane Ike hoping and praying that it doesn't come our way. If it does we have a plan to help a lady and her husband while the electricity is off. He is disabled and can't start the generator very easily.

AWANA

Our church is gearing up for the new season of AWANA. It will be my 3 year old's first year and she is really excited. I have been moved from working with Sparks to being the Secretary for the 5th & 6th Grade girls. I'm excited. There is a software that can be used to keep the records that might make things easier for all the secretaries of each club. I'm going to present it to the AWANA Director tonight and see how things go. I'm even going to take my laptop and start entering the clubbers as they come. I have a few that I have entered that attended VBS. I had there address and grade level or age from the registration for that. I believe God is working already in ways that we can not see but so has Satan, the directors 1 year old has been sick the last 2 days but seems to be doing better today. We (AWANA leaders) have been praying. And God has listening.

Well until the next post, May God Bless and Keep You Safe!

Career Update

Just to let everyone know, I have gone back to work at the Parish Library here where I live. I decided to stay home with my baby until she was old enough to attend daycare and enjoy it. She has been attended daycare now since May and really enjoys and has started talking up a storm. Once school starts, the daycare will be having a pre-school program where the children will be learning the letters and numbers and shapes. My daughter knows her colors and her favorite is pink, of course.

I work from 8-3 everyday. The library director has allowed me to keep busy for the past 3 years doing newsletters and writing grants from home. She was not going to let me go and is glad that I have returned to the position I left-secretary. I'm still getting back into the swing of things but actually I am glad to be back working.

God is also using me in many ways. I have been asked to continue as second teacher for the first grade class at church, I have been asked to be VBS Co-Director, and now I am eht editor of the kid's and the youth newsletter. Also my husband is working on a webpage for the church and he and I will be handling that and adding to it each month. GOD is running amuck in Vidalia.

New in 2008!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to update how things are going.

The scrapbook session at church isg going great. We have started a "Fruits of the Spirit" bible study and we are making a page for each fruit. The first fruit we did was LOVE. We have to know God's love before we can earn this fruit. This fruit is key to all the others. The next fruit we are going to scrap is JOY. I found an acronym that we should all follow: J-Jesus first; O-Others second; Y-Yourself last. If we put Jesus first and others before our needs and wants, we will have complete Joy in the Lord for the Joy of the Lord is our strength.

We have a few new ladies that have started coming and seem to be enjoying it.

We are planning to spend Easter with my husband's family. This will be my daughter's 3rd Easter and she seems to know already what it is all about. She has spotted an Easter basket at Walmart that she really wants.

Well until the next update: Have a great Easter and a great Spring!
